Trading Confirmation Bias – Part 2

What I talk about is nothing new or revolutionary. In fact, if you’ve taken the most basic of basic psychology courses in school, you’ve learned about the concept of confirmation bias. Given trading the markets is a huge mental game, confirmation bias can play many roles in holding you back from improving as a trader, and here we have a real life example of confirmation bias holding a trader back.

I did this video just as much for myself as I did for you as a viewer. Sometimes I struggle with this very thing, but after having done it, I don’t know why I was shocked by the following week’s results… it’s happened for me plenty of times before. The “Dream” is a Lie

I’m certain you’ve seen it assuming you’ve run a Google or YouTube search. You’ve seen someone who “trades the markets” and then in the background (or sometimes in-your-face) there is some materialistic fancy item. They’re of course doing this because they know your brain will attach the two in the sense of “learn to trade from this person, be able to get these types of items”. This is a bold faced lie and that’s not an opinion. Let me use some math and real life numbers to illustrate and prove how much of a lie this “sell the dream” marketing tactic actually is.

How Can Math and Numbers be Emotional?

I had a statement come in through my website that prompted an idea for this video. I 100% understand and respect where this person is coming from and why they viewed the situation the way they did. At the core, the stock market “is numbers” and numbers are… well… simply numbers. What is there to be emotional about? Let’s go further down this rabbit hole!
