Manipulating A Super Computer

We live in a day and age where the stock market is mainly controlled by super computers. In fact, high frequency trading done via the computers makes up the vast majority of the volume on a daily basis.

While attempting to do some after hours trading, I stumbled across one of these computers trying to take advantage of me. I put in a sell order, and then all of a sudden, I was no longer the best offer on the ask (I wanted to short). I adjusted my order to be the lowest sell price, and then BOOM… again, I was no longer the best offer. Because I realized what was occurring, I decided to turn the table and take advantage of the computer and turn it against itself.

When traders hear “options”, their minds usually go to one of two places…

1. Big gains can be made by only using small amounts of money.
2. They can be highly risky if you don’t have a strategy.

Both of those are very true. In regards to the 2nd point though, ANYTHING is highly risky when you don’t have a plan. Walking across a busy street with no strategy of looking both ways before you cross severely increases the riskiness of the situation.

In my opinion, there are other attributes about options that really never get talked about. And in my mind, the things I talk about in this video are the TRUE GEMS when it comes to options. Don’t get me wrong, having the chance at big gains with small amounts of money at risk is great, but I believe there are some even better components that options provide.
